Canterbury Cricket captain Peter Fulton is pleased to announce the launch of a cricket scholarship aimed at assisting promising Canterbury Country cricketers. Up to two scholarship(s) will be awarded annually to young country cricketers who display the potential to go on to play first class cricket.
Fulton says the idea came from a desire to give something back to Canterbury Country Cricket.
“Canterbury Country has played a big part in my cricketing development over the years and I wish to ensure that young cricketers from the region have the same opportunities that I did as they chase their goals. The demands on a young cricketer’s time are far greater than when I began my career in terms of playing and training so hopefully this scholarship will help the winner(s) both on and off the field.”
Up to two scholarships will be awarded with each winner receiving $2500 as well as personal mentoring and one-on-one coaching from Peter Fulton. The winner(s) will also have access to Career Development assistance as provided by the New Zealand Cricket Players Association.
A judging panel will consider all applications and select the inaugural Fulton Cricket Scholarship winner(s) which will be announced at a fundraising golf event on April 17.
Nominations are now open.
