New Zealand WHITE FERNS: 2015 Tour to India

13/6/2015

The WHITE FERNS will face India in five One-Day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals, with coveted ranking points riding on the results of the first three ODI matches — which have been designated as official ICC Women’s World Championship (IWC) games and therefore count towards qualification for the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup.
The IWC sees the world’s top eight women’s cricket sides lock horns in a global, multi-year qualifying competition, with the top four sides securing automatic qualification for the 2017 World Cup in England.

The WHITE FERNS impressed pundits in their most recent IWC Series, when they beat richly-experienced England in two of three IWC ODIs at home. Should they adapt successfully to Indian conditions, the New Zealanders have a prime opportunity to vault into the top three sides on the IWC world points table against India.

To assist in achieving this goal, the WHITE FERNS begin their tour with a four-day acclimatisation and training camp in Alur, Karnataka, before transferring to Bengaluru where they will play a One-Day warm-up match against India A Women ahead of the first ODI.

The tour is the first under new Head Coach and former WHITE FERNS captain Haidee Tiffen; and is the third visit to India by current captain and leading allrounder Suzie Bates, New Zealand’s highest ranked player.
