The NZCPA Masters will meet New Zealand Croatia at Devonport Domain this Sunday in a match full of tension, as the Cro’s look to register a win against the solitary opposition they have yet to taste success against.
Mathew Sinclair is one of six former international players in the line-up for this eagerly anticipated rematch of last summer’s inaugural fixture between the teams.
The Masters will look to the forthright Sinclair to assert himself during the match and opening bowlers Guy Coleman and Dean Askew will once again be a handful with the new ball
Masters captain Richard Jones is looking forward to this match on his club cricket stomping ground.
“We are looking forward to this match after such a great encounter last year. The Cro’s are bound to turn up ready to take us on, but we have a number of canny old hands in our team and look forward to an entertaining match on Sunday” said Jones.
Once again the NZCPA will field a strong side for this Choice Hotels Masters series match that features ten former first class representatives, and last year’s Masters Weekend Most Valuable Player – Guy Coleman.
New Zealand Croatia captain and NZCPA member, Joseph Yovich, is keen to exact revenge after last summer’s defeat at the same venue.
“We had a very rugged encounter with them last season and fortunately this time around we have been able to bring in Dušan Hakaraia for [this] game.
“The NZCPA were one of the first cricketing organisations to recognise what we were trying to achieve in starting this club, probably because our reason for being is very similar to theirs” noted Yovich.
The Choice Hotels Masters Series Twenty20 starts at 1pm at North Shore Cricket Club, Devonport, Auckland this Sunday 1 February 2015. Entry is free.
