The Players' Cap.

In 2011 New Zealand’s leading players established this award that recognises the most outstanding Blackcaps performer within each Test, ODI and T20i, match over a 12 month period. The award has been named to commemorate the special significance of the black cap to the players. The cap is a symbol of achievement for each player and The Players’ Cap signifies respect and honour toward all players who have represented New Zealand.​ The Players' Cap is awarded to the player voted by their Blackcaps teammates and coaches as the Players' Player of the Year.

Voting.

Voting takes place after each match by Players and Coaches, who have a unique insight into the tactics, role and impact of each players performance and how they each contributed to the team effort. Weighting of Votes In order to compensate for the uneven number and length of Test, ODI and T20i matches, and to ensure that players from all three formats of the game have a fair chance of winning the award, a weighting system applies to all votes. Test match votes have a ‘weighting factor’ of 6, ODI match votes have a ‘weighting factor’ of 3 T20i match votes have a ‘weighting factor’ of 2

CPA Players' Award.

In 2015 the leading White Ferns players established this award that recognises the most outstanding White Ferns performer within each match over a 12 month period. The award has been named to commemorate the special significance of the camaraderie among players and the contribution of the CPA to the women's game in New Zealand. The cap is a symbol of achievement for each player and the CPA Players' Award signifies respect and honour toward all players who have represented New Zealand. The CPA Players' Award is awarded to the player voted by their White Ferns teammates and coaches as the Players' Player of the Year.
