Amelia Kerr has created history once again, being recognised with the CPA Players’ Award for a remarkable fifth consecutive year.
The New Zealand all-rounder received the honour while the team was away in England for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, adding another significant milestone to what has become one of the most extraordinary individual runs in New Zealand cricket.
The award, voted on by players and coaching staff, recognises the most outstanding White Ferns cricketer across official international matches over the previous 12 months. For Kerr to again be recognised by those inside the team environment speaks not only to the quality of her performances, but also to the esteem in which she is held by those who understand the demands of international cricket best.
Reflecting on receiving the award, Kerr said it remained the most meaningful recognition because it came from those within the team environment.
“For me, it is the most important award, and it is one I am really proud to have received. What is most special is to think of all the players and staff in this room. I love playing my cricket alongside you all, you make it so much more enjoyable and challenge me to want to keep getting better every day. This means more than you guys think. It is you who drive me to want to be the best I can be.”
The latest recognition comes during a significant period in Kerr’s career. In recent months, she was appointed captain, taking on the role following Sophie Devine’s time leading the side and stepping into an important new chapter for New Zealand cricket.
With the team continuing to evolve, Kerr’s consistency as a performer and her growing presence as a leader have become even more meaningful. Her influence has extended well beyond runs and wickets, with her calmness, cricket intelligence and all-round skill continuing to set a high standard within the group.
Across the voting period, Kerr again showed why she is regarded as one of the world’s leading all-rounders.
Against Zimbabwe, she was a dominant figure throughout both formats, named Player of the ODI Series and Player of the T20 Series. Her ODI campaign included a hat-trick and a record-breaking 7/34 in Dunedin, the best bowling figures by a New Zealand women’s player in ODI cricket.
Her form continued against South Africa, where she was again central to New Zealand’s success. She was named Player of the T20 Series after finishing as the team’s leading run-scorer and also reached the milestone of one hundred T20I wickets, another reminder of the breadth of her contribution.
Kerr’s standout moment of the summer came at the Basin Reserve, where she produced an unbeaten 179 from 139 balls against South Africa. The innings helped New Zealand chase down 350, the highest successful run chase in women’s ODI history, and was another defining example of her ability to influence the biggest moments.
Those performances, combined with her leadership and consistency across the year, saw Kerr lead the CPA Players’ Award voting in both formats.
Kerr’s fifth straight award extends an unprecedented run of player recognition, with the all-rounder now having won the award every year since 2022.
Her continued success reflects not only her world-class skill, but also her ability to influence matches in different ways, across formats and in different stages of the team’s journey. At a time of change for the national side, Kerr has continued to deliver performances of substance while also embracing the added responsibility of leadership.
In the ODI format, Kerr finished ahead of Brooke Halliday and Sophie Devine, while in T20 cricket she topped the voting ahead of Devine and Izzy Gaze.

About the CPA Players’ Award
The CPA Players’ Award is awarded to the most outstanding White Ferns cricketer of the year for performances in official international matches over the preceding 12-month period and is judged by the players and coaching staff.
At the completion of each match, each player, and coaching staff member casts their own individual vote. The player who tallies the most votes is awarded three points towards the CPA Players’ Award for that match. The players tallying the second and third most votes are awarded two points and one point, respectively.
To compensate for the difference in formats and to ensure players from all formats have a fair chance of winning the award, a weighting system applies. One Day International matches attract a weighting factor of three and T20 International matches attract a weighting factor of two.
